Before I retired in May last year I had been since 1989  the Asset Controller at the Cape Sun Intercontinental Hotel, a five star hotel in Cape Town with 360 bedrooms and extensive F & B facilities, and in this capacity had been responsible for the maintenance and control of all Operating Equipment and Fixed Assets, both physically and by computer. In addition  I also took over the maintenance of the Fixed Asset records of 24 of the Group’s hotels in the Gauteng and Cape Regions.

The records of the Fixed Assets were maintained on a program called Faswin which was developed by Capesoft  and a program for the control of Operating Equipment was custom written for the Hotel to my specifications.

Gary James was the person at Capesoft  responsible for the support and development of Faswin and it was he who developed the Operating Equipment program. Over those years I dealt very closely with Gary on an ongoing basis and have always found him to provide support in an unhesitant and thorough manner. He displayed a sound professional knowledge of programming and was able to grasp the principles of the practical application of the programs he dealt with. His assistance was invaluable to me in coping with a fairly onerous work commitment where any program problems were immediately critical.

I have every confidence in his ability to meet any new challenge in his profession.
