Since we released Organize365, numerous people have contacted us asking whether we would be prepared to sell them the source code, parts of the source code, various controls that we built for Organize365, etc. Because there was such an interest from other programmers, we decided to build an API (Application Programming Interface) into the Organize365 product, so that other programmers can tap into this API from their own software, in order to be able to control and customize Organize365 for their own needs. In effect this means that other programmers can build programs (EXEs or DLLs) that can “talk to” Organize365 directly.

Can you elaborate?

The best way to explain what the API does is by example, so here goes.. Using the API your software can now insert appointments directly into Organize365! It can also delete appointments, insert tasks, open various Organize365 screens, and much more! One of our clients is selling Organize365 to his clients, and he has written his own program that he sells with Organize365. His program accesses a website that he has built which contains dates of various important events. Once his software has downloaded that data from his website, it then uses the Organize365 API to insert those appointments directly into Organize365! So when his users open their calendars each day (in Organize365), all the data from his website appears in their calendars, without them having to do anything!

What does it cost?

Nothing!  The Developer Kit is absolutely free! There are no costs upfront, no royalties, nothing! No strings attached, no fine print! The truth is that if you build systems using the API then anyone who uses your systems will have to be using Organize365 as well, and we make money when people buy Organize365, so that is how we benefit. At this stage the SDK is built primarily for developers who build software using Clarion, and includes a Clarion template, and example applications for Clarion 5.5 and 6.3. If you are interested in using this Developer Kit but use a programming language other than Clarion, please contact us and we will happily build more examples in your language of choice.
