There are more backup solutions on the market than there are vuvuzelas at a 2010 soccer match.  So why has StrategyOnline built another one?

Basically because we tried numerous backup products and couldn’t find one that did what we wanted.  So we built our own.

How does it work?

Most backup systems attempt to backup your entire hard drive, the idea being that should your computer crash, you could then restore everything onto a new drive and carry on as though nothing happened.

Our experience is that this approach never really works.  To be frank, if your computer does crash, you’re better off installing Windows, Office etc again, and starting clean.  What we’re interested in protecting (and what we believe most users are interested in protecting) is documents.  AmaBackup will not do a complete system restore, but it will help you by backing up and protecting the documents which you work on.

Furthermore, unlike most other backup solutions, AmaBackup does not use a closed backup format.  Files are backed up individually, and compressed using the standard ZIP format.  So if you want to restore a backup up file, you can simply find it using Windows Explorer, then unzip it.  With AmaBackup you won’t ever experience the dreaded feeling one gets when using a restore tool that throws up error messages when you try to restore your data.  There is no guesswork with AmaBackup, everything is completely transparent and obvious.
