I’ve just signed up to attend WordCamp 2008 this Saturday.
At the risk of sounding like a groupie, the main reason why I want to go is to listen to Vincent Maher.
I’m also keen to hear Tyler Reed, Adii, Dave Duarte, and Rafiq. I’ve bumped into these guys online over the past months, and I’m looking forward to meeting them in person.
Justin Hartman and Matt Mullenweg are also speaking. I don’t know much about them or their businesses, but that will change on Saturday. I’ll post info and photos here on my blog during the event.

Good grief! Vincent just informed me who Matt Mullenweg is! Matt is the founding developer of WordPress!!! In blog-terms that pretty much makes him god! I humbly grovel on the floor in my acknowledged ignorance.

Sheesh dude, Matt Mullenweb created WordPress, I think he should be at the top of your list!!
Hi Vince,
Good grief! You’ve just been bumped to number two.. I had no idea who Matt was! Ignorance hurts…
Thanks for that..
G.
Hi Vince,
I’ve been giving this some thought.. Matt certainly is a legend because of his role in creating WordPress, but as a competent programmer myself (who has worked on some pretty cool projects) the truth is that technical achievement alone doesn’t excite me as much as it used to.
Your arena is something that excites me more, possibly because it’s not just technical.
So I’m reversing my vote. You’re still the highlight on the agenda, although if I do see Matt I may just ask for his autograph.
No pressure…
Cheers,
G.
